JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Lead Architect/Designer

Department: Architecture

Reports To: Department Manager, Architecture

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary: The Lead Architect/Designer will effectively participate in the early design phases of projects and provide full architectural support through the entire project. Lead

Designer/Architect will liaise with Sr. architects, architect/designers I and II, engineering and other consultants. Provides and represents advanced technical viewpoint on projects. Coordinates with team members on appropriate technical solutions and product strategies. May be assigned to supervise the coordination and production of presentations, contract documents, and specifications. This is a client facing role on large project.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily.

  • Exhibits advanced technical insight and design solutions to projects.
  • Advanced knowledge and application of industry standards regarding quality, graphics, terminology, and information provided on contract drawings and documents.
  • Advanced knowledge in industry standards regarding quality, graphics, terminology, and information provided on contract drawings and documents.
  • Exhibits and sets internal standard for a high level of project commitment and ownership.
  • Advanced knowledge in material selection, specification, and application and detailing into the built form.
  • Mentors architect/designers I, II and Senior.
  • Advanced knowledge in building and zoning codes, research, interpretation, and compliance with contract documents.
  • Must be able to convey advanced technical insight and design solutions for project team designers, engineers, and the client, in project meetings and presentations.

Education/Experience:

Master’s degree or equivalent and four to ten years’ experience; or four-year degree and ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:

Read, analyze and interpret complex documents. Respond effectively to sensitive inquiries. Write speeches and articles using innovative techniques. Make persuasive presentations on complex topics to management, public groups and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Ability:

Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Apply logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Deal with nonverbal symbolism (e.g., formulas and equations) in difficult phases. Deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Software Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge and practical application of Revit, Enscape, Photoshop, Bluebeam and

PowerPoint, MS office programs, Word and Exce1.

Certificates and Licenses: None: If licensed title will be Lead Architect and if non-licensed, title will be Lead Designer.

Supervisory Responsibilities: May supervise Designers I, II and Seniors under the direction of

Department Manager.
