The University Police Department at the University of Alaska Anchorage is seeking applicants for multiple positions with its Campus Security Team. We are looking for individuals who will be dedicated to increasing the overall safety environment of campus. Team members will be non-sworn and unarmed and will help to identify and locate potential risks and hazards and increase the university community sense of security and safety.

Should have the physical and mental capabilities to properly carry out responsibilities and duties as a Campus Security team member.
Intermediate knowledge of and ability to interpret and explain university regulations, protocols and procedures. Basic knowledge of federal, state and local statutes and laws. Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills. Record keeping skills. Conflict resolution and organizational skills. Intermediate ability to operate computers and specialized equipment. Ability to exercise judgment under difficult situations with tact and diplomacy. Must be able to provide credible testimony in a court of law.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible to drive a University owned and/or leased motor vehicle. Must successfully pass a thorough background investigation, as directed by University of Alaska Board of Regents Policy, Alaska Police Standards Council, and FBI – Criminal Justice Information Systems requirements.
Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification may render the position security sensitive.
Preferred 3 years experience in the security field, event staffing, or public safety.
REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:
Graduation from high school, vocational school or equivalent. College experience preferred.
This is a full-time, term-funded, Grade 76, (minimum $19.34 hourly, DOE), 12-month position complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package.
- To be eligible for this position, applicants must be legally authorized for unrestricted employment in the United States. No work visas will be sponsored for this position.
- Position is located in Anchorage, Alaska on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus. This is not a remote work position.
