Job Description :

The Root Center is a private, non-profit, behavioral healthcare organization providing mental health and substance use treatment, prevention, community health services, and research across the state of CT with 10 current sites. We are a financially strong organization that continues to grow as we expand our services to the community. We are searching for a Chief Financial Officer to plan, implement and manage all financial-related activities of the agency.

Essential Functions

· Leadership;

· Ensures credibility of Finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends and forecasts.

· Evaluates and advises on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory action.

· Provide senior management with advice on the financial implications of business activities.

· Manage process for financial forecasting, budgets and consolidation and reporting to the organization.

· Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities.

· Attends, participates, and prepares financial packages for Board and Committee level meetings as required.

· Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders so as to identify their needs and seek full range of organizational solutions.

· Financial Budgets and Reports;

· Responsible for agency financial records complying with state and federal regulations.

· Prepares annual budget including financial performance, projections and other special projects as directed.

· Prepares financial reports for grant applications in collaboration with management staff.

· Maintains accounting systems to track and allocate expenditures to specific cost centers.

· Prepares short and long-term financial forecasts of financial performance for use with internal management and external parties.

· Works closely with the Senior Management team to fulfill fiscal, internal and external reporting requirements.

· Employee/ Payroll;

· Oversight of payroll with outside payroll services.

· Monitors allocation of wages and employer taxes across programs and funding sources.

· Reviews quarterly payroll, payroll tax reports and annual 1099 forms.

· Oversees employee payroll, time off accrual, the 403b retirement plan, medical benefits and other employee benefits.

· Serves as a liaison with insurance brokers and applicable reporting for workers compensation liability and medical malpractice policies.

· Accounting;

· Oversight of accounts payable, billing, accounts receivable, and cash flow management.

· Monitors and oversees monthly bank and petty cash reconciliations performed by the Accounting staff.

· Monitors the effective purchasing, payment of invoices, and expense reporting for all ten clinics.

· Manages bank transactions including wire transfers and keeping track of signing authorities.

· Funding;

· Oversees receipt and disbursement of all funds.

· Oversees monthly invoices from funding agencies.

· Manages fiscal audits and renewals.

· Establishes contracts with new vendors.

· Establishes contract and renewals with insurance broker and carriers.

· Billing Compliance;

· Establishes and oversees fiscal and administrative systems and internal controls to ensure compliance with applicable laws and adherence to best practices.

· Develops, implements and maintains accounting and administrative policies and procedures for a wide-ranging set of activities including financial accounting, reporting, and other agency policies.

· Manages current and long-term liabilities including credit cards, line of credit (if applicable) and mortgages and leases.

· Ensures timely payments and adherence to terms of agreements.

· Financial Audits;

· Coordinates activities with outside audit firms and reviews audit findings.

Minimum Qualification Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance. MBA and/or CPA highly desirable. 10 + years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, preferably in a non-profit, healthcare setting.

· Annual bonus eligible based on agency performance; $10,000 Sign-On Bonus; Salary Range: $150,000-$200,000

· $2,000 provided annually for tuition, license reimbursement, certifications or other educational activities, including 3 paid training days for educational activities and conferences.

· Root Center has approved sites for the following NHSC Loan Repayment Programs: The Loan Repayment Program, Students to Service Loan Repayment Program, Rural Community Loan Repayment Program and Substance Use Disorder Workforce Loan Repayment Program.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $150,000.00 – $200,000.00 per year
