t management’s discretion. The pay range listed for this position is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.


To supervise workgroup activities including pipeline patrolling, locating, construction inspection, and excavation inspection of Company gas/liquids pipelines, appurtenances, compressor stations, process plants, and other related facilities.


  • Provide a proactive response, training, and support for pipeline asset protection related to encroachments on the company’s Right of Way.
  • Coordinate and participate in public awareness, contractor awareness, and emergency response programs.
  • Act as an Operations technical expert for GIS, company One Call Ticket Management system, and other associated applications.
  • Represent the Company during contacts with excavators, landowner/tenants, public officials/emergency officials, and at public meetings as needed.
  • Coordinate oversite of the construction and/or maintenance activities performed by third parties near company assets.
  • Provide employee training and support as required.
  • Perform quality control of governmental compliance activities, such as line patrol, road and railroad crossing inspections, and valve inspections including documentation review.
  • Identify, report and correct safety and environmental concerns.
  • Participate in the development of O&M Procedures, Site Specific Procedures, project scopes and work plans.
  • Complete appropriate documentation, OQ qualification and paperwork.
  • Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory and tariff requirements.
  • Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence.
  • Respond to emergency situations at any hour of the day or night. This includes and may not be limited to being in possession of required equipment and tools, designated forms, policies, regulations, and manuals.
  • Foster a positive open work environment, systems approaches, and disciplined execution of all assigned tasks.
  • Manage personnel-related matters, including providing performance-based feedback, providing support, and completing administrative paperwork as needed.
  • Demonstrate and enforce the highest professional integrity, ethics, and safety discipline.

Minimum requirements:


  • Associates Degree from an accredited institution in Business or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of direct work experience in crude oil/gas pipeline operations/damage prevention may be considered as a substitute for a degree.

Experience/Specific Knowledge:

  • A minimum of three (3) years of working experience in operations of crude oil/gas pipeline systems.
  • Knowledge and experience in the operation of pipeline, measurement, pump stations, compression, and all related equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of crude oil, flammable gases, liquids, and high- and low-pressure systems.
  • Intermediate proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

  • Good math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage crews at multiple locations and multiple tasks on a daily basis.
  • Solid communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead towards operational excellence.
  • Strong customer focus in dealing with engineering, field operations, right of way, and other internal and external groups.
  • Must be able to perform all essential and marginal functions of the job.
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from management, adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
  • Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks with strict deadlines.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily work.
  • Job level commensurate with experience and skill sets; position will be filled depending on qualifications, experience, and skillsets of the successful candidate.

Working Conditions:

  • Living environs may be negotiable and will be relevant to the work location.
  • Frequent overnight travel may be required.
  • Required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including a credit report for certain positions, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.

Above the minimum requirements, not required but advantageous in this position:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Prior Supervisory/Leadership experience
  • Experience locating underground utilities
  • Ability to speak confidently to large groups of people
  • A keen eye for detail when reviewing and preparing documentation
  • Experience working around excavation activity including OSHA competent person for excavation training
