Job Description :

Who we are.

TruCut Incorporated is the leading supplier of out-of-production and low-volume service parts for the HVAC industry. We specialize in offering a complete solution for manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution on behalf of our OEM customers. With over 50 years of industry experience, we continue to evolve as a modern organization in order to meet the ever-changing needs of our customers and to be a desirable place to work.

Today, TruCut brings together over 90 unique and talented people every day to operate 2 manufacturing facilities located in Salem and Sebring, Ohio and 1 distribution center in Alliance,

Ohio. We take great pride in operating as an ISO 9001:2015 certified business. We also empower our people with Open Book Management and aim to have a lot of fun playing The Great Game of Business.

Right now, we are looking to bolster our team by adding the person who can lead our sales department and drive strategic growth within our industry.

Types of things you’ll be doing.

Do but delegate. Differentiate between tasks that are necessary to complete yourself and when to rely on the talents and skills of those you work with. To go along with that you’ll need to make sure your department has all of the proper seats filled with the right people. It’s critical to develop your team and make sure they are constantly improving and reaching career goals just like you would develop and build a relationship with a customer.

You’ll be given the opportunity to structure and lead the department. To start, you’ll have a highly experienced Customer Service Representative on your team as well as a new Sales

Engineer. Additionally, you’ll have the retiring Senior Account Manager part-time to help ensure a successful transition to the new department leader. They support the sales process by handling the day to customer maintenance and order processing as well as serving as a liaison for our customers.

As the Director of Technical Sales, you’ll need to learn the intricacies of our value proposition and how that integrates with our customers. If you’re an impatient person or are motivated by quick wins then you should look elsewhere. It can take years from the first discussion of a program with a customer until it is onboarded and shipping from our facility. Once landed, they usually have a long life. It’s also important for you to have a technical understanding with some experience in managing large sales programs. We don’t sell commodities or have a catalog of items to choose from so it is vital that you understand our customers pain points and demonstrate how we can solve them. It’s crucial to track industry developments and trends and comprehend the impacts of them in order to create new opportunities for TruCut . You won’t last long if you are slick or a politician.

So as not to bore you with all of the corporate buzz words and bullet points of a typical job ad we’ll cover a few of the main responsibilities quickly here. CRM – we have one, there’s room for improvement, let’s see what you can do with it. We also maintain a strategic plan and have a pretty niche sandbox we play in. We see a LOT of opportunity for growth and would like to do so in a controlled manner. To do this you’ll need to work with the senior management team to develop a sales plan and then execute. Keep the plan fresh, well communicated, and always be proactive if it’s headed off the rails (positive or negative). You can keep your team on the same page as you see fit but you’ll need to provide updates at weekly management meetings as well as report on KPIs. Your team will also be tasked with evaluating our customer accounts and keep an eye on margins, slow moving finished goods, contractual obligations, and growth potential. We all know that some customers are better than others and we need to know where to apply maximum effort.

As the Director of Technical Sales, you’ll get to do some traveling to visit customers. If you don’t like driving or flying coach then you should generate some serious sales growth so we can get a company jet! You’ll also need to be able to negotiate pricing and contracts at a high level.

Engineering will support you with cost models but you and your team will be responsible for setting final price to the customer. We strive to teach all employees to think like a business owner so you’ll need to utilize technical analysis and business acumen to guide you in your negotiations.

Types of things you won’t be doing

Don’t count on driving your golf handicap down. This is not that type of sales job. Making big but unachievable promises because you want the customer to like you isn’t going to work, either. On that note, while many people think that sales and production are naturally sworn enemies, they aren’t. Keep those lines of communication open and they may be able to make you look like a hero every now and again.

Getting discouraged can be easy in this position. Landing new work takes a relentless effort and the right attitude. Once you bring new work in you can’t take your foot off the gas. Stay positive and don’t sweat the small stuff.

How we define success in this role.

You should take pride in “getting the job done.” It is easily noticed when someone has a modus operandi of action with results. This applies not only to tasks at hand but also to your team.

You’ll be successful if you set your team up for success and empower them with the tools they need to achieve exceptional outcomes. Attitude is everything. Nothing will cause you to fail in this role faster than a poor attitude. As a manager you must act with empathy, integrity, and accountability.

We will also need to see controlled sales growth. There is no bottom line without the top line.

What we’d like from you.

This is not for beginners. We’d prefer that you have a Bachelor Degree in a business or technical discipline with 10+ years in a business development or technical sales role. An additional 5+ years of managing a team would be beneficial. No degree? Real world experience with proven results works fine, too. We’ll consider any leadership positions you may have held or currently

hold outside of your day job in lieu of the 5 years in management. If you really want to impress us and jump to the front of the line then the bulk of your experience should be in manufacturing. It would be advisable to also provide a summary, cover letter, or some sort of explanation of why you are looking to change jobs and how you believe you can positively impact our organization. Remember, we’ll take experiences outside of the workplace into consideration as well.

What you’ll get in return.

Compensation will be based on the value we believe you bring to the company. We’re well aware of market wages for this type of position and we will be highly competitive. We also provide a full suite of medical, dental, and vision insurances. Several supplemental policies are available as well. You can participate in our 401k with 4% match. We also offer a gainsharing program where you can earn up to a 15% bonus if the company achieves its annual financial goals. You’ll automatically get a $25,000 company-funded life insurance policy as well. We pay for you to stay home on 8 holidays (9 if you’re a veteran) and have paid time off as well. Should you decide you want to continue your education and it is in a discipline that would benefit the company then we also have a tuition reimbursement program. In addition to all of that we also offer a very safe, clean, and stable work environment. We’re growing and you’ll have the opportunity to grow with us. We are not a public company and ownership is involved with the day-to-day operations so bureaucracy is thin and you will be recognized for your achievements.

Who are your coworkers?

We’re down-to-earth people. We work hard to the best of our abilities and try to learn new things when that isn’t enough. You count on your peers as much as they count on you to make sure a job gets done. We don’t hide from a challenge or dodge responsibilities. Those that do don’t last long. We make mistakes just like you will and when we recognize them, we own it, fix it and move on. Pontificators, blowhards, and showboats don’t do well in this organization.

When not at work most of our coworkers have families and enjoy a diverse spectrum of hobbies. You’ll find musicians, hunters, travelers, avid DIYers, coaches, civil servants, gamers, artists, home brewers, board game sharks, dancers, and more.

Does this sound like it could be a fit for you? If so, we’d welcome your resume along with anything else that you think would be beneficial for the hiring manager to know.
