To meet the needs of our clients, and customers we are hiring for a Disruptive Solution Design Director, which is a high profile, cross-functional role that will lead our Disruptive Solution Design team as well as support and facilitate design efforts across the Evernorth enterprise including our subsidiaries, clients, communities and customers. This role will be highly collaborative both in-person and virtually with others throughout Innovation, cross-functional teams and external partners to turn ideas, insights and data into new solutions.
The position sits within the Evernorth Enterprise Innovation team, which operates in state-of-the-art labs across the country, is responsible for developing and managing programs and services that allow our 100 million members to make better drug, pharmacy and health choices. Rooted in health decision science, this department includes Disruptive Solution Design, Rapid Prototyping, Data Solutions, Physician Solutions, Research and New Solutions. Collectively, this team uses a multi-disciplined approach for building deep human understanding and then translates this knowledge into meaningful and differentiated new strategic business opportunities.

This role could have travel up to 25% when needed to meet our stakeholders’ needs for in person facilitation. Travel will vary based on the current needs and projects of the Design team.
Be an expert and be able to apply a wide array of design tools, techniques, and methods throughout the design and development cycle that support the exploration and evaluation of a broad range of concepts and solutions,
Facilitate in-person and virtual multi-disciplinary workshops and ideation sessions with senior leadership, key clients and cross-functional partners.
Lead a high performing team of cross-disciplinary designers and offer structure, coaching and goals to drive continued performance and results
Ensure that the design work translates into insights, outcomes, and innovation to create meaningful output for our key stakeholders by driving concepts from ideation to developing them into tangible, testable prototypes, pilots or solutions to validate with stakeholders.
Proficiency managing a budget to allow for partnerships with vendors, travel, and additional resources needed to deliver on key performance metrics
Aiding in the identification and development of qualitative and quantitative research that validates new concepts with targeted end users. This can include guiding further concept iterations based on results, documenting detailed design criteria of validated solutions, and supporting the development of specific business cases to secure appropriate approvals and funding for full-scale development.
Ability to quickly forge strong partnerships at varying levels across the organization, including the ability to engage team members in innovation and input, both within the team and across functions
Willingness to offer a unique point of view and respectfully challenge the status quo to help foster design and innovation
Develop design strategies that help differentiate Evernorth in the marketplace and align our interest with those of our clients and their members
Is comfortable shifting focus from one priority to another when necessary, even if that means stopping mid-work to change directions
Ability to generate thoughtful design, direction and actions from ambiguous or unclear environments
Ability to research, analyze, and handle multiple projects and clients at once, prioritize to meet required deadlines
8-12 years relevant experience with Bachelor’s Degree in or Master’s degree and 6-10 years of relevant experience.
Advanced degree in Human Centered Design strongly preferred, or extensive experience commensurate with a post-graduate degree.
8+ years leading multi-disciplinary design work
Success of leading a high performing team through driving meaningful results with projects, and facilitating the growth of individuals on the team
Preferred experience in health care industry, experience in a product or innovation organization a plus
Experience leading and executing projects using multi-disciplinary design methodologies
Experience integrating customer research insights and prototype test results into concept design
Ability to manage a project from end-to-end including eliciting stakeholder goals, study design, development, data analysis and reporting.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage work load and meet project deadlines
Ability to work towards specific deliverables within an environment of tight deadlines and significant pressure
Experience in the art of engaging individuals through various channels to drive participation and satisfaction through the products we develop and launch
Ability to work within a test and learn environment, drive clear decisions and priorities, and proactively communicate with all stakeholders
Exceptional ability to develop compelling presentations and stories to align a broad and diverse audience behind an initiative to accomplish significant results and maintain focus through project completion
Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio. Ability to pick up computer applications quickly
Travel up to 25%
If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 130,100 – 216,900 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.
This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus and long term incentive plan.
