Job Description :

Job Description: Finance Manager for St Cornelius Catholic Parish in Chadds Ford, PA. The Finance Manager collaborates with the pastor and other staff members in a friendly office environment with a flexible work schedule.

Responsibilities Include:

·Maintain complete and accurate financial records utilizing QuickBooks

·Analyze and prepare cash flow projections

·Accounts payable and disbursement processing and procedures while comparing spending to cash flow projections

·Process and record all archdiocesan invoices and related reconciliation of the liability balance

·Process and record parish cash receipts in QuickBooks

  • Process tuition for the early learning center and record the tuition revenue
  • Record cash receipts, including on-line donations
  • Record the journal entries for cash received from tuition receivables
  • Prepare tax acknowledgement letters for donations
  • Solicit and prepare matching gift forms
  • Analyze receipts and document explanations for significant variances

·Prepare, process and record the semi-monthly payroll using Prime Pay payroll services

  • Record the payment of the 403(b) retirement plan contributions
  • Maintain all payroll data and files for employees, such as salary, voluntary withholdings and personnel records
  • Prepare and coordinate the timely filing of any required quarterly and annual payroll tax documents

·Reconcile bank and investment accounts monthly. Maintain banking relationships

·Prepare monthly statements of operations comparing the actual results to the budget to explain any significant variances

·Prepare the year-end financial statements for the Archdiocese, and its related narrative

·Prepare the budget for the year and all related financial reports for the finance council

·Coordinate quarterly meetings with the finance council to review year to date statements compared to budget and all financial matters of the parish

·Monitor and implement internal controls over parish receipts, disbursements, QuickBooks transactions and reporting

·Interact and coordinate with the outside accounting firm.

·Serve as an advisor to the pastor on all financial and business matters including:

  • Cash flow projection matters
  • Controlling expenses as needed
  • Vendor or other contract review, administration, negotiation, renewal
  • Obtaining competitive bids when appropriate
  • Verify receipt or inspect timely completion of services/work prior to payment
  • Insurance and claims administration
  • Real estate, township or legal administrative matters

·Maintain the highest level of confidentiality in all parish and financial matters

·Assist with daily operations of the parish office such as supporting staff, responding to parishioner requests and inquiries, church and learning center related matters/meetings.

Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance from a US accredited college

Minimum Experience:

·5 years in an accounting supervisory or managerial position required. Active or inactive CPA license not required, but a plus

·At least 5 years recent experience as a practicing member of a Catholic parish

·At least three years in not-for profit organization preferred

Basic Skills/Qualifications

·Proficiency in QuickBooks

·Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

·Command of the English language. Excellent writing skills

·Analytical, problem solving, listening and interpersonal skills

·Excellent organizational and time management skills

·Proven ability to interact with other team members

·Strong commitment and work ethic
