The Department

Fidelity’s Fixed Income Division is one of the country’s leading fixed income managers with over $1 trillion in fixed income assets managed by a staff of roughly 200 investment professionals. At Fidelity, we combine fundamental research on domestic and international debt issuers with macroeconomic and quantitative analysis to develop investment decisions. Our goal is to leverage our financial expertise to help people live the lives they want. The Fixed Income Division is headquartered in Merrimack, New Hampshire.

The Position

The Fixed Income research associate program is designed to recruit talented, hardworking individuals to support Fidelity’s bond and money market investment process and train them with the foundational skills to launch successful careers in finance and investing.

In this associate role, you will join the macro and sovereign research team to support the senior analysts in researching macroeconomic topics, central bank policy and evaluating sovereign credits and assessing country risk. You will be trained to analyze economic and monetary cycles and to relate this analysis back to investment strategies for bond and money markets. Your principal responsibilities will include maintaining and analyzing data, drafting and producing research materials and communicating with a range of investment teams. In order to prepare you for this role, you will have the opportunity to participate in a formal training program and receive direct mentoring by senior analysts.

In this role you can expect to interact regularly with senior analysts, portfolio managers and traders and play an integral role in the Fidelity investment process. Our investment process is highly collaborative, and the successful associate will contribute regularly and effectively to group activities.

Participation in this program may last up to four years. The associate experience provides an opportunity for you to build a rare skill set, which will position you for more senior roles within Fidelity, the asset management industry, or top graduate programs.

  • Previous coursework in economics, accounting and finance (preferred but not required). Coursework in history or economic history is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
