Work from Home or from our Sioux Falls, SD office. Occasional travel to our Headquarters in Brookings, SD where our IT team is located.
IT Support Specialists is a customer-facing role, providing Systems Support for our retail stores. Work in a team-based environment with the ability to function with independent discretion. This may be with hardware, such as desktop computers, printers, scanners, handheld devices, or POS systems. They will generally track all instances of support by creating IT tickets using ticket-tracking software. They will update the status of each ticket as they successfully assist each user with their issues. Their assistance may be conducted in person or on the phone when assisting users. Good customer service skills are important for IT Support staff.
- Improving existing programs by evaluating objectives and specifications, reviewing proposed changes, and making recommendations.
- Provide systems support for end client systems, including, troubleshooting, diagnosing, resolving, and documenting.
- Install and configure computer systems and applications within the company.
- Point of Sale support and configuration.
- Trace cables to network design switches to fully document all IT activity and how complex retail systems interact with each other.
- Respond to customer inquiries and assist in troubleshooting and resolving challenges.
- Actively update, maintain, and monitor all aspects of computer networks.
- Resolve technical issues related to network interruptions.
- Attend in-person meetings with clients to analyze, troubleshoot and diagnose hardware problems.
- Maintain a working log detailing all required system updates, as well as the date of completion.
- Create training materials pertaining to computer troubleshooting and usage.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
- Degree in Computer Science or IT Certification.
- 3 plus years experience in a Help Desk or complex IT support role. Preferably within a small retail environment, i.e. small store or gas station.
- Customer service focused.
- Self-directed, with an ability to respond in a rapidly changing environment.
- Good working knowledge of Network design and implementation.
- Good working knowledge of common information technologies and document management systems.
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high customer service standards.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate technical ideas to non-technical team members.
- Must be a team player who is self-motivated and can work independently.
- Must be a problem solver and critical thinker.
- Frequent client site visits are required
- Initially travel would be approx. 60% of time
- After 1st year approx. 25% of time
