Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science, Information Systems, Health Informatics, Health Sciences or related field) plus four years experience, OR Master’s Degree plus at least two years of experience
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
Data report writing concepts and tools
Database management systems
Health Information Technology/Management skills
HIPAA/HITECH
Experience should include:
Presenting and explaining data and data reports to stakeholders at all levels of the organization
Customer service knowledge and skills, including teaming with stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience developing reports in SQL and using reporting tools (such as Crystal Reports, Business Objects, SlicerDicer) in EPIC in a primary care/ambulatory health care setting
Experience with EPIC Cogito Reporting Workbench (highly desirable)
Experience with HRSA UDS reporting
Change management experience, preferably in implementing process or technology change in a healthcare organization
Objective/Overview:
CUHCC’s mission is to transform care and education to advance health equity. CUHCC serves over 10,000 patients a year through over nearly 60,000 visits annually. CUHCC is a Federally Qualified Health Center and a department within the University of Minnesota Office of Academic Clinical Affairs.
The position of Report Developer is responsible to develop, deploy and maintain data reporting processes, query the EHR (OCHIN EPIC & Dentrix) systems, prepare reports, and analyze data from disparate sources in order to enhance clinic performance, financial & grants management, and quality assurance/improvement. The Report Developer will team in quality, planning/development initiatives, and various other projects.
Reporting Relationships:
The Report Developer reports to the Chief Innovation & Strategy Officer (CISO).
Essential Functions and Percentage for Each Function:
Data Reporting (80%)
Develops, deploys and maintains data reporting infrastructure to accommodate current and future reporting needs to meet quality, grant, financial and regulatory requirements, guided by reporting schedules and due dates
Demonstrates a working knowledge of data element requirements (federal, state and local grants, gifts, and other quality/performance measures), and evaluates available raw data from multiple sources
Documents purpose, key points, parameters and any limitations for data report/s
Develops EHR queries which pull and integrate information from disparate data sources (clinical, financial, practice management) in order to fulfill data reporting requirements and to improve the effectiveness of the care delivery model/s.
Works collaboratively with the Finance Team in areas such as electronic billing claims data, billing situational reporting, checking the data integrity such as UDS reports and Business Objects reports.
Provides aggregated data to facilitate the analysis of clinical, financial, operational and quality trends in order to inform improvement recommendations
Supports and advises on the development, evaluation, and monitoring of clinical documentation tools under the direction of the Quality Team in order to achieve quality improvement goals and strategic initiatives
Interacts with EMR vendor as a site lead for understanding current and upcoming updates and applications, conveys this information to various stakeholders and teams
Collaborates with CISO, Quality Director, EMR Support Analysts, and Leadership Team to establish strategies for business intelligence, EMR processes, monitoring and reporting strategic performance
Data Analysis & Visualization (15)%
Reviews and validates data reports for accuracy and completeness to ensure that stakeholders have correct information upon which to base their assessments and decision-making
Analyzes clinical, business, and operations data for trends/performance for operational decision-making and and improvement opportunities
Partners with Quality, Finance and Practice Management Teams to create, refine and maintain interactive dashboards and other data visualization with an effort to maximize use of existing data tools.
