Job Summary
The Engineering Technical Specialist supports the geoscience and engineering department within Dominion Energy Wexpro, located in Salt Lake City, Utah, with the following responsibilities:
Engineering Technical Specialist I:
- Assist reservoir engineering staff with hydrocarbon reserves estimation reporting and perform economic evaluations of oil and gas properties using ARIES, Access, and Excel
- Utilize reservoir engineering software to prepare production forecasts for internal analysis and for third party engineering groups
- Maintain database of future development inventory and provide updated forecasts of capital investment, revenue, and operating expenses to management
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of engineering databases and ensure data quality of all data imports
- Utilize and maintain database front-end user interfaces
- Assist in the development and maintenance of data visualization and analysis tools using Spotfire or Power BI
- Gather well information and production data from public and internal databases
- Gather and summarize commodity price data and other market information
- Prepare and analyze summary reports of oil and gas lease operating expenses
- Assist petroleum engineers with compiling, tracking, and completing various tasks and forms relating to the development and production of oil and gas properties
- Work in close coordination and integration with petroleum engineers as assigned
- Fulfill data requests from various departments as required
Engineering Technical Specialist II:

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities, and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:
Engineering Technical Specialist I:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- 0-2+ years of relevant work experience. A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications.
- Experience using ARIES, PHDwin, or ComboCurve oil & gas reserves software preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Basic understanding of relational databases such as Microsoft Access or SQL Server with demonstrated database design experience preferred
- Experience integrating Microsoft Excel, relational databases, and data visualization tools such as Spotfire or Power BI preferred
- Experience programming in VBA, Python, R, or similar
- Experience designing and creating front-end database user interfaces preferred
- Ability to work flexibly in a multidisciplinary team environment on multiple tasks simultaneously in a self-directed manor
- Ability to proactively communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Ability to think analytically and abstractly
- Demonstrates self-starting behaviors and self-control
- Strong quality focus
- Uses independent judgment in prioritizing and making moderately complex adaptations and modifications

- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience. A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications.
- Experience using ARIES, PHDwin, or ComboCurve oil & gas reserves software
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Thorough understanding of relational databases such as Microsoft Access or SQL Server with demonstrated database design experience
- Experience integrating Microsoft Excel, relational databases, and data visualization tools such as Spotfire or Power BI
- Experience programming in VBA, Python, R, or similar
- Experience designing and creating front-end database user interfaces preferred
- Ability to work flexibly in a multidisciplinary team environment on multiple tasks simultaneously in a self-directed manor

Engineering Technical Specialist III:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- 5+ years of relevant work experience. A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications.
- Advanced experience using ARIES, PHDwin, or ComboCurve oil & gas reserves software
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Expert understanding of relational databases such as Microsoft Access or SQL Server with demonstrated database design experience
- Significant experience integrating Microsoft Excel, relational databases, and data visualization tools such as Spotfire or Power BI
- Experience programming in VBA, Python, R, or similar
- Experience designing and creating front-end database user interfaces
- Ability to work flexibly in a multidisciplinary team environment on multiple tasks simultaneously in a self-directed manor
- Ability to proactively communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Ability to think analytically and abstractly
- Demonstrates self-starting behaviors and self-control

Pay: $50,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
