Otogawa-Anschel Design-Build is seeking an awesomely creative, talented, intelligent, individual to join our design team. We are looking for someone who is versatile and has a command of multiple styles (Historical to Modern). The ability to understand and work within a client’s aesthetic while applying Otogawa-Anschel’s design sensibilities is very important. A love of older homes (1880-1945) and how they work is also important. Applicants should be comfortable with lighting, tile, color, and designing for human space. A basic understanding of building science is helpful, as is experience with one or more Green Building certification programs.

Ideally candidates are proficient in: Chief Architect, Auto CAD, Sketch-Up, Xcel, and Word. Proficiency in Photoshop, In-Design, and ACT! is not required, but is appreciated.

A degree in architecture or design is valuable, but not a requirement for this position. We care about your skills and talent regardless of how you acquired it.

Applicants should be prepared to submit a digital portfolio for review prior to interview requests. Submissions should include any and all relevant works that the applicant feels will express their technical proficiency, their communication skills, and their creativity. Work not directly related to architecture or design (photography, sculpture, painting, etc.) is encouraged.

Otogawa-Anschel is a small, award-winning design-build firm devoted to residential green building and urban living. We are committed to maintaining a high level of workmanship with special attention paid to the aesthetics involved in the design, remodeling and construction of homes.

Our company works primarily in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area focusing on older homes. We go to great lengths to try and match the style and characteristics of the home to ensure that our additions look as if they were part of the original structure. Our interior spaces range from those that model after the style of the home, to more forward-looking, contemporary design.

Through all of this we also try to bring materials that are healthy and durable, more efficient building and mechanical systems, and smart eco-friendly design to each of our projects.
