Job Description :

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting applications for one full-time Airport Security Deputy to be assigned to Knox County Regional Airport.

Airport Security Deputies perform patrols and inspections of airport facilities, carry out security procedures and measures outlined by federal agencies and the County, supports Transportation Security Agency (TSA) agents during passenger processing, handles complaints, and prepares reports, etc.

Applicants must be high school graduates or equivalent, have no criminal record and be in good health. Applicants must have successfully completed the Basic Law Enforcement Training Program of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy (MCJA); in the event that an applicant has not completed the law enforcement training course, the applicant must meet standards as established by the MCJA Board of Trustees Selection Committee before hire; must complete the MCJA Law Enforcement Pre-Service Program and the Basic Law Enforcement Training Program within one year of date of hire; knowledge of government operations and airport operations would be extremely beneficial; prior law enforcement experience preferred.

Applicants may be required to pass a written exam, the standard MCJA physical assessment, an oral board, a polygraph exam, psychological exam, and an extensive criminal and motor vehicle background check. The salary range for this position is $22.79-$31.91 (depending on years of full-time law enforcement experience), with a $200/week stipend through 12/31/2022; hourly rates are expected to increase effective 1/1/2023 based on the budget approval process.
