Job Summary

Responsible for the design, development, and management of university websites.


The position is housed in the Office of Strategic Communications in the division of University Advancement. This position collaborates with internal stakeholders to tell the story of VSU through some of our biggest recruiting tools. This position can be fully remote, partially remote, or on site.

Typical Allocation of Duties:

Design and develop – 50%
Design, lays out, and code websites to meet the needs of functional users.

Consulting – 15%
Coordinate and consult with internal clients to develop strategies, goals, and timelines. Work with internal clients to develop website messaging and design strategies.

Graphic design – 15%
Perform a variety of graphic design functions in the development and design of websites as well as print and other materials.

Site maintenance – 10%
Maintain and update existing websites. Modify existing applications to improve functionality and processes flow.

Administrative functions – 10%
Complete a variety of reports and maintain files and records.

Supervisor Expectations

  • Ensure university websites are on brand, informative, accessible, and visual
  • Work with communications team to ensure important messages, news, and events are properly relayed
  • Strong working knowledge of coding and current trends in web development
  • Work closely with Information Technology teams to ensure security and compatibility needs for the university
  • Field requests from and assist stakeholders across campus
  • Must work well with others and as a part of a team
  • Excellent organization and both written and verbal communication skills
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion

Required Qualifications

Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree and over three (3) years of related work experience.

Conditions of Employment

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check. Position May Require Credit Check (if using P-Card, working with Cash, etc.).

Position Requires completion of VSU’s Annual Compliance Training course (such as State Business Transactions, Drug Free Workplace, Anti-Harassment Policy, Introduction to Information Security, Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle Policy, USG Ethics Policy, Conflict of Interest/ Outside Activities Policy, Leave Procedures for Faculty and Staff, Georgia Open Records Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and Contracts 101. Supervisory positions require training in FMLA and Worker’s Compensation.
