Compensation: $41,600 annually (salary / exempt)

Position Overview

Project REAL is seeking a confident and outgoing individual to serve students in Clark County, Nevada with our Independence & You youth law experience. This position consists of balancing five tasks: Outreach, Relationship Development, & Event Management, Database management, and General Administrative Needs.

The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of developing new professional contacts in the Clark County School District’s schools, building long-term sustainable relationships with school administrators, and coordinating and overseeing at least 6 Youth Law Fairs annually that each serve 500-1,000 students.

The position is split between on and off seasons. On seasons (when students are in school) are primarily spent doing everything possible to organize and conduct at least six youth law fairs that serve no less than 6,000 students (total) each school year. During this on season, the bulk of direct service will involve:

  • Reaching out to schools in Clark County and setting appointments with administrators
  • Introducing those administrators to Project REAL and our Youth Law Fair Model
  • Scheduling and organizing a youth law fair at the school, or nearby at a local community center
  • Holding in class presentations (requires about 30 minutes of uninterrupted public speaking, to groups of 60-120 students at a time), for most days in October and February
  • Recruiting, training, and scheduling volunteers to staff the law fairs
  • Connecting students that are unable to attend the fairs with our publication “Independence & You”, and
  • Ensuring at least 6,000 students are positively impacted by their Project REAL experience

In the off-season, direct-service will be conducted at summer camps and community centers, however the bulk of work will be spent doing research and database entry and updates to aid in the following school year’s schedule being filled as quickly as possible.

Knowledge of the law and court-systems is helpful, but unnecessary.

Position Specifics

Project REAL’s REAL Ready Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Searching out and finding contact information for hundreds of Clark County education professionals
  • Recruiting and building new relationships with teachers and school administrators
  • Recruiting enough classrooms to ensure service to at least 6,000 students each year
  • Providing direct service to 6,000 students each year, often in groups of 45-90 students at a time
  • Interacting with a variety of accomplished professionals that can serve as ‘expert volunteers’ at law fairs

Workplace Locations & Environments

Work locations varies by need, but include the Project REAL office and the offices of the many professionals needed to successfully organize and produce the youth law fair events. After 3 months of successful employment with Project REAL, part-time remote work may be authorized at leadership’s discretion.


  • Capacity to work with diverse groups of people, including various age groups and socio-economic levels
  • Highly experienced and skilled with Google Suite products (gMail, gCalender, gSheets, gDrive + More)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher)
  • Moderate-to-strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, willing to take initiative
  • High emotional intelligence, ability to think on one’s feet, capacity to make sound decisions
  • Professional, businesslike, yet able to switch work-voices in order to connect with students

Administrative Tasks

  • Tracks all meetings with school officials and the outcomes of those meetings
  • Develops tracking database to record meetings, points of contact, etc.
  • Tracks and acknowledges all volunteer recruiting efforts, needs, and service
  • Ensures events are well attended, not just well organized
  • Handles all event organizing
  • Ensures updates to event plans based on feedback and ongoing experience

General Project & Work Tasks

  • Works cooperatively with the REAL Ready coordinator
  • Ensures all Project REAL school resources are being promoted, distributed, and utilized locally
  • Conducts research and builds school relationships with school administrations
  • Works with schools to maximize participation by Seniors
  • Ensures all grant commitments are met (at least 6,000 students receiveIndependence & You annually)
  • Manages all aspects of Youth Law Fairs (planning through execution)
  • Captures ‘REAL Live’ content (Project REAL mini-livestreams) with Youth Fair participants that volunteer
  • Builds & maintains relationships at the courts with lawyers, judges, and courthouse staff by managing all student groups’ behaviors and impacts on the courthouse.

The Youth Law Outreach & Project Coordinator is expected to

  • Plan to serve as a consistent ‘face of the organization’ at the youth law fairs and with school officials
  • Be a cooperative, enthusiastic, and productive member of the Project REAL team
  • Be courteous and pleasant in all contacts
  • Be willing to listen and excited to learn

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $41,600.00 per year
