Join us as a
Youth Tobacco Specialist, in collaboration with DHHS’s Tobacco Free Nebraska team. This position provides information related to youth tobacco prevention and engages partners in outreach and education efforts. This position is fixed term, with an end date of 4/25/2025.
Pay Range:
$23.052 – $26.893/hour

- Creates, prepares, and disseminates information and educational materials for schools, community agencies, healthcare providers, and agency staff related to tobacco prevention and control strategies and activities.
- Establishes and fosters strategic partnerships among state agencies, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and business and industry partners to implement goals of the statewide tobacco prevention and control plan.
- Provides technical assistance to local grantees and communities on tobacco prevention and control best practices.
- Oversees tobacco prevention initiatives (e.g., youth empowerment and tobacco-free school programs) to offer assistance in youth-led tobacco prevention efforts.
- Evaluates program plans and objectives to make recommendations for revisions and improvements.
- Assists with development of grant activities and implementation to ensure program goals and objectives are met.
- Demonstrates commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
and the remaining 20% of work time spent traveling and working in sites such as Local Education Agencies (LEAs), other educational entities, meetings, and conferences. There is also approximately one day of overnight travel per month.
Preferred Qualifications:
